GSU visit to the Gwanara Emirates council

The union committee ably led by the president paid a visit to the Gwanara Emirate Council to formally seek for the union’s recognition and the support of the Emirate Council.
The committee briefed the council on the initial date of creation of the union and plans the union wishes to execute for a better Gwanara including the actions and decisions the union has taken so far, which includes:

  1. Seeing of concerned stakeholders within Gwanara
  2. Tutorials for the SSS3 students
  3. Proposed letters to be distributed to villages in the district.
    In response by the Emirate council,
    Alh Musa Aliyu advised the union on the need to comply with Governments directive on the Corona virus pandemic by ensuring
    i. Social distancing within ourselves and among the students
    ii. Ensuring the use of face masks by the students and the tutor.

The Emir on the other hand suggested that parents of children should be contacted to seek for their support and encourage them to advice their children to attend these tutorials in a bid to tow the path of success.

Mr. Ali Ustaz however suggested the need to liaise with the Education committee of the district and various principals of different schools to seek their support on behalf of the union, who would in turn seek the support of parents for their wards.
He also promised to donate quite a number of face masks on behalf of the Emirate to the union.

The Area Officer(Alh. Musa Woruyo) applauded the union committee for the brilliant idea on the creation of the union which will serve as a stepping stone to the development of the community.
He also stressed the the purpose of the union should not only be centered on Education but also to work towards addressing social vices which includes drug abuse, underage sex among others.

Alh. Musa Umar(Bibumba) volunteered to pay for the sewing of face masks.

Mall. Sule Liman adviced the need for the union to exercise patience at all cost because of criticisms that may be leveled against them.

After meeting with the Emirate Council, the committee immediately arranged a meeting to discuss further on the advice of the Emirate council. They reached the following agreements.

  1. To maintain and adhere to the social distancing policies
  2. They deliberated at erecting a sign post with the name of the union to serve as an instrument of awareness for the union.
  3. Proposing to purchase 1 unit of 100 note books with the unions name and logo to be distributed to the government schools within Gwanara district.
  4. Fund raising from amongst ourselves
